After watching this movie, what moved me most profoundly was that when the protagonist was addicted to internet games, whether from his father’s strict beatings and scoldings or his mother’s untiring urging, I could see their hatred for games and could appreciate their feeling that they wanted to lead him onto the right path but could do nothing about it. Especially when I saw that for many times, Xinguang’s parents shuttled from one Internet cafe to another to look for their child at rainy night, I seemed to see the shadow of myself …
My child was just an actual example, just like Xinguang in this movie. When he studied at middle school, he was infatuated with internet games and often shuttled back and forth between internet cafes. In the beginning, he went to play online games for 1 or 2 hours after school. Later on, at 4 or 5 a.m., when we were sleeping soundly, he secretly went to the internet cafe. Internet games had become the main melody of his life and during the school holidays he played games more frenziedly.
Afterward, it reached a point where he didn’t return home at night. In order not to let him walk the wrong paths, my family separately found him from one internet cafe to another …
Seeing that Li Xiangming and his wife looked for their child around on the streets at rainy night in the movie, I was able to comprehend their anxiety and helplessness as parents when they saw their child fell into internet games but could do nothing about it. Because my child often played games and spent all the money I gave him playing games in the internet cafe, he often ate meals irregularly, becoming sallow and emaciated. In addition, he often stayed up playing games, thereby had no energy to attend classes in the daytime. As a result, his academic record dropped sharply and he got into a lower-quality senior high school in the countryside after the high school entrance examination. In order not to delay his studies, we spent over 20,000 yuan buying off someone to send him to a normal high school to study on a temporary basis in town.
Our whole family didn’t for a moment imagine that my child had actually borrowed a loan with high interest to play games. When I saw that, in this movie, there were so many children who had ever been obsessed with online gaming successfully breaking their addiction to computer games under God’s guidance, I felt strangely exhilarated. Especially, when I saw the words said by Xinguang’s father, “Only God can save us from the affliction that comes from Satan,” I felt particularly that my child had hope to give up internet addiction. It turned out that after believing in God, in God’s words, Xinguang’s parents found out the root of why the children could not get rid of the bondage and affliction of internet games and knew how to give their child true love and help.
Just like the word of God read by a sister in this movie, “The devil Satan does these things in order to lure people, to cause them to degenerate. For those who live in virtual worlds, they have no interest whatsoever in anything to do with the life of normal humanity; they are not in the mood to work or study. They are only concerned about going to virtual worlds, as though they are being enticed by something. … The second they get bored or are sitting idle, or when they are doing some real work, at their job or study, they want to play games instead, and playing games gradually becomes their whole life. Playing games is like taking a kind of drug. Once someone starts to play games, once they enter into them, then it becomes hard to get back out and hard to quit. So regardless of whether it is young people or older people, once they catch this bad habit, it becomes difficult to give it up. … Tell Me, is playing games something that normal humanity should do? If games were needed for normal humanity, if it were the right path, then how come people cannot quit them? How come people can be captivated by them to such a degree? This proves one thing: That is not a good path. Surfing online for this or for that and playing games is not a good path. It is not the right path. … This evil world uses all manner of ways to attract those who have not seen through the world, who have not seen through the evil trends of mankind. It specially lures these people. If you cannot often come before God, if your heart and your brain are often blank, then you will be in danger.”
Zhao Ming said, “Why is online gaming such a thing that as soon as people get hooked they cannot pull away from it? This is a type of addiction. This sort of addiction is a type of demon, a sort of evil spirit enticing people and controlling people. This is why they cannot get rid of it or break away from it. It’s just like the tobacco demons, alcohol demons, gambling demons, and demons of lust that we often talk about; these are all the same sort of thing. This online gaming is full of all manner of violence, pornography, magic, deception, trickery, the trading of money, and other such things that belong to Satan. There are more than just one kind of demon in these things; they contain all manner of evil spirits and filthy demons. It is no wonder that God reveals, ‘these games are the world of devils.’ ‘… playing games is not a good path. It is not the right path.’ Many people are obsessively immersed in the world of games, following their desires and satisfying their cravings of the flesh. Some games even poison people and ruin their lives through the use of sorcery, trickery, gambling, and money exchanges, causing them to set foot upon a path of no return. Wouldn’t you say that these games are manifestations of the devil Satan’s corruption and harmfulness?”
God’s word reveals the fact! Now let’s think carefully: As parents, because we can’t see through and speak clearly the substance and harm of internet games, we can’t give our child a correct guidance. We either blame the child blindly, or beat and scold him, or send him to the private school to force him not to go online…. But these measures can’t truly help him find the practical way to quit online gaming. From God’s word I also understand that, the reason why the world becomes more and more evil and darker and darker is because all manner of evil spirits and filthy demons use various social trends to induce and harm us; the only way to quit online gaming is to come before God and accept the watering and supply of God’s word. As we read more and more words of God, we can have discernment and power to overcome satanic evil trends.
Just like the words of God a sister read in the movie, “While your stature is immature, you must do your utmost to give those things that can rot your heart and poison you a wide berth. … You should implore God often, that you not fall into temptation, and that you not be deceived by Satan. In this evil age, in this age infested by unclean spirits and devils, you should pray that God’s kindness and protection will often be with you, that He looks after you and protects you, so that your heart won’t leave God, and you can strive to use your heart and your honesty to worship God.”
Zhao Ming said, “The reasons we were lured and harmed by online gaming were that we did not understand the truth, and could not see through the various negative things that come from Satan. When we read God’s utterances, experience God’s work, and have understood truth and gained truth, then no matter what methods Satan might use, it will neither be able to entice nor corrupt us, and we then will truly be saved by God. For example, back then, why were Adam and Eve susceptible to Satan’s corruption? It was because they merely had a normal humanity, and did not understand the truth, so as soon as Satan came to lure them, they fell for its tricks. In the last days, Almighty God has expressed the truth and is doing the work of judgment in order to cleanse us of Satan’s disposition and various poisons. At the same time, He is working the truth into us so that we can live according to God’s word. This will turn us into people who both possess humanity and the truth. When we understand the truth and gain a knowledge of positive things, we will be able to discern the various fallacies, evil doctrines, and negative things spread by Satan. As such, Satan will no longer be able to mislead or corrupt us, and we will truly have overcome Satan and been saved by God. We all have all sorts of corrupt dispositions; we have many weaknesses and deficiencies, and are still capable of being deceived and harmed by Satan. This means we need to read more of God’s utterances and understand more of the truth; only then can we resolve the various troubles brought by the shackles of sin.” It seems that only by believing in God and reading God’s word can we understand the truth, see through the actual facts of how Satan corrupts man and break away from Satan’s affliction. This movie interprets the true love that parents bring to child. Regardless of fatherly love or motherly love, both of them can’t replace the assistance God’s word brings to child. I’m so fortunate that I have watched this movie. I feel the truth it conveys can help me find my lost child and recover our once-happy family.
